Itineraries
Day 1
ARRIVE IN ISTABUL - CAPPADOCIA
Upon arrival at The Istanbul International Airport, you take the domestic flight to Cappadocia that is arranged and paid by us. At the Kayseri airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Cappadocia. Overnight in Cappadocia.
Day 2
CAPPADOCIA
Your guide will meet you after breakfast to start an exciting day program. Our first real encounter with
Cappadocia’s almost Martian landscape is in the Devrent Valley, where the rock formations are amazing. A walk through the Zelve Open Air Museum is a journey into the past, with its troglodyte houses. This is one of the earliest inhabited and latest abandoned monastic settlements in Cappadocia. After Zelve we visit Pasabag’s “fairychimneys”,where the voice of the wind harmonizes with the songs of the fairies. From here we pause at Avanos, a center of terracotta art since 2,000 BC, for a demonstration in a traditional pottery workshop. After lunch in Avanos, we visit the famous Goreme Open Air Museum to see the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia. These are found in rock-cut churches with frescoes and paintings dating from as early as the 10th century. We complete the tour with a visit to the Uchisar Rock Castle, giving you a panoramic view of the valleys of Cappadocia. Overnight in Cappadocia.
Day 3
CAPPADOCIA
Our first stop is the Underground City of Kaymakli, one of the largest and deepest of Cappadocia’s many such settlements. That is, we descend towards the center of the earth. After this we drive to the Ihlara Valley, a fantastic canyon. After enjoying our lunch on the terraces built on the river flowing from the mountains, we explore the beauties of the valley. At the end of the day we drive to our hotel and on the way we visit the Red Valley to admire breathtaking sunset. Overnight in Cappadocia.
Day 4
FLIGHT TO ISTANBUL
After breakfast you are transferred to Kayseri Airport for the early flight to Istanbul where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Sultanahmet. Rest of the day on your own. Overnight in Istanbul
Day 5
ISTANBUL
Your guide will meet you after breakfast for a tour of the Ottoman Istanbul. A short walk takes you to the Blue Mosque which was completed in 1616. Our next stop will be the Topkapi Palace, more than just a palace, it is an assemblage of museums containing collections amassed by the Sultans for almost five centuries. Our visit also takes you to the famous Harem where the Imperial Family resided. We then walk out to Divan Yolu, the old"RoadtotheImperialCouncil’nowabusythoroughfare forlunchatalocal restaurant. Next we walk through the old cobbled streets down to Rustem Pasa Mosque, designed by Mimar Sinan in 1561, and then the Spice Market, where Genoese and Venetian goods were sold at a time when there was no Suez Canal, and all the spices from the East were also brought here after being loaded on vessels in Egypt. We end the tour with a visit to the greatest Bazaar of them all, the Grand Bazaar, one of the most extraordinary shopping experiences in the world. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 6
ISTANBUL
Our second day in Istanbul takes us to a number of Byzantine Relics. We first stroll to the great square
which was once the Byzantine Hippodrome. Now it is a great park like area surrounded by the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Underground Cistern. The Hippodrome exhibits the Walled Column, The Serpent Column and the Egyptian Oblique from the Byzantine times and the German Fountain is located in the North end of the Hippodrome. Next we visit the Hagia Sophia, the most important Byzantine building in the world. After lunch at a local restaurant, we take a short drive to The Chora Church to see the climax of Byzantine Mosaic Art. We end the tour with a visit to the Underground Cistern, commonly called the Basilica Cistern. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 7
ISTANBUL
After breakfast we take a short drive to the shores of the Bosphorus to visit the Dolmabahce Palace. Overlooking the Bosphorus, its beauty is incomparable with 14 tons of pure gold used for its interior decoration, its priceless paintings, furniture, and a rich collection of Bohemian crystal in addition to its famous Harem section. We will continue for a leisure cruise on the Bosphorus on a local ferry, having an opportunity to admire the palaces, Ottoman yalis (wooden Bosphorus seaside mansions), the Bosphorus bridge, fortresses, among others. After lunch at a local restaurant you are transferred to your hotel or you choose to be the rest of the day on your own. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 8
ISTANBUL - HOME
After breakfast transfer to the Istanbul International Airport that gives best connection to your
international flight out of Istanbul.

This depends on the disability. The hearing impaired should be accompanied by a professional sign language translator if they want to join guided tours. People with walking disabilities should check with our staff regarding the level of difficulty for the area they want to visit. We can source disabled friendly hotels however in many rural places, wheel chair ramps are non existent and the conditions of roads are unsuitable for wheelchairs. Please email or call us with details of the disability and we can advise further.
It is customary (but optional) to tip your housekeeper in the hotel by leaving a few coins by the bed. You can tip taxi drivers a few lira or round up to the nearest 5 or 10. The same goes for waiters in restaurants. If it’s a more formal restaurant, and no service was added, then 15% is appropriate.
You will have different bus and car drivers throughout. You may wish to tip them 5 or 10 lira each, particularly if they have helped with heavy luggage. Alternatively, you can just give a tip to the guide on a day tour and s/he will share with the driver.
It is usual (but optional) to tip your guide at the end of each tour according to how you found his/her information and communication. One a one day tour, you might tip 10-20 lira to the guide. If you have the same guide for several days, a similar rate may apply on a per day basis.
On a standard gullet cruise, around EUR5 per passenger per day is a good starting point, more on a deluxe cruise. On a chartered vessel, the crew as a team would hope to receive at least EUR50 per day from your group. Please remember that gullet crew only have work for 6 months of the year, and often have a family to support year round.
